I didn’t know Garin/Dry Creek Park in Hayward even existed!  Donna & Jeff decided to meet me halfway between her home and ours, so we found the beautiful northern California foothills with grandma, grandpa, the little cherub K and the turbo-boosted V.  Beautiful family, beautiful images!  My job is too easy.

The east bay’s got too many nooks and crannies to pass up.  Once the tots start toddling, it’s time to let them run around in the great outdoors!  Usually that means I look like I took on a screaming gaggle of muppets when I get home, covered in dirt and sore from so much chasing the toddler and dropping to ground level to shoot from their perspective, but it’s worth it!  Mr. G lives very near Joaquin Miller Park, so an hour in the green were a cinch for him, Mom, Pop and Grandma.  We caught the early morning light coming through the conifers, making for some sublime family portraits.  What a beautiful family!

Cesar Chavez Park, built over a sealed landfill in 1991, offers full panoramic views of the bay at sunset, immediately opposite the Golden Gate.  It makes fantastic use of what clearly was a poor use of land.  On a peninsula that juts into the bay, it remains windy most of the day and night, making it a kite-flyers dream location.  There’s even a kite rental trailer that sits at the end of the parking lot so you don’t have to bring your own.  Bella and family made it out on a chilly afternoon to catch a fall sunset.
